The evolution of one’s sexuality and gender identity is a complicated process of recognition, acceptance, and sharing. Each person makes unique choices about how to share their identity with friends, family, classmates, co-workers, their faith community, and the world. Coming out is a difficult process that requires trust, support, and patience.

I was gay when I was young.
I came out in the street in Detroit.
