Pride events promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of LGBTQ+ people. The first pride flag in Lynn was raised on the island in front of City Hall, not on the official flagpole in front of City Hall, in July of 2010. Lynn's first gay pride event was held in June of 2012 at the Lynn Museum sponsored by Arts After Hours. A second pride event was held in 2013. After a 9-year gap, pride events returned in 2022 when United Lynn Pride organized a week of events. Many Lynners attend Boston Pride which began in June 1970. The Pub at 47 Central had floats in the Boston Pride parade from 1999 to 2008. Fran’s Place had floats for several years.
