47 Central

47 Central was a beloved bar that created a welcoming environment at 47 Central Avenue. It ran under multiple names from 1999 to 2015, including The Pub at 47 Central, Cirque at 47 Central and Pub 47. Owners George Chakoutis, Keith Williams and William Mahoney created an environment where LGBTQ+ people could gather, be themselves, connect with friends, have fun, and do good in the community. In 2004 the Lynn Item described George Chakoutis as a “phenomenon of fundraising” due to the many benefits held at the bar. In 2007 WBZ named 47 Central "Best Gay and Lesbian bar on Boston’s North Shore.”
