Lynn native Alex Newell wins a Tony Award for their role in “Shucked.” Newell, who identifies as non-binary, is one of Lynn's most well-known LGBTQ+ people in the arts.

2023 - LGBTQ+ art exhibit at GALA Lynn Arts
The first LGBTQ+ themed art exhibit opened at the Gallery at Lynn Arts in June of 2023. Organized by United Lynn Pride Executive Director Cristian Recinos, it featured art inspired by the Pride flag and color symbolism.

2012 - Gay pride comes to Lynn
More than 100 attended Lynn's first gay pride event in June of 2012 in the Courtyard of the Lynn Museum. Kevin Sampson of Lynn called it a great success. Sampson and his husband serve on the board of the nonprofit Arts After Hours.
